What I wish I’d find at the thrift stores . . .

Ingrid Sophie Schram on Backyard Bill . . . . . looks from CTRL’s Spring 2010 Lookbook (via youneak)

Sorry for being a downer yesterday.  I think it was mostly the weather, because when I woke up this morning the sun was shining bright through the windows and everything seemed so much better than it had last night.  It was extra lovely to drink coffee and look at the usual sites online, and it was even fun to brave the thrift stores on an especially busy holiday Monday.  Even the thrift store radio station that usually plays headache-making music (Leona Lewis, Celine Dion!) weirdly decided to play only ’80s songs today, and they were happy songs that didn’t give me any headaches at all.  Plus I found a bunch of good dresses for the shop.

I’m still on the lookout for a few things I’ve got on my Spring wishlist, though.  On today’s trip I spent a large amount of my time looking through the shirt section for a navy polka dot blouse.  Preferably silk with a small cut and not-too-big collar.  Though I’ve had such a hard time tracking one down that I’d settle for just about anything.  Dresses, too.

Yesterday when I was bored I came across what I believe to be A.P.C.’s Spring 2010 collection,  though to tell you the truth I’m kind of hoping it’s not.  Usually I end up split between A.P.C.’s regular collection and its Madras one–I like one or the other, and rarely both at the same time.  Last Spring I loved A.P.C.’s collection but didn’t care for the Madras collection, and this year I have a feeling it’s going to be the other way around.  The A.P.C. collection is simple to a fault, almost–some of it reminds me of 1990s business casual outfits, and some of it is out of place metallic.  However there is one pair of tapered pants that might be the perfect pair of pants.  They are the sort of trousers I dream of finding in a thrift store, though I kind of doubt I’ll be that lucky.  I might just have to get brave and wear the Gap ones I’ve had sitting around in my closet for months.

Right now I’m obsessed with tracking down the perfect chambray dress, and this one by Permanent Vacation might be it.  Short and pretty, but simple and not quite too cutesy.  I found this image on a blog that’s equally lovely–it’s just a sneak peak for a Spring 2010 collection that I’m hoping will be more inspiring than A.P.C.’s.  Well, I really think it will be . . .
