Days of Heaven

Last week I finally got around to seeing the Terrence Malick film Days of Heaven; I don’t know why it took me so long to rent it off of Netflix.  I’d been wanting to see it ever since I saw Badlands, which I loved, but I think I might like Days of Heaven even more, if only for its gorgeous settings (unending wheat fields, waterfalls, a beautifully spooky farmhouse in the middle of nowhere) and its Edwardian costumes.  I can see why Lover took inspiration from the film for its new collection–the movie’s just filled with white lace Edwardian dresses and calico work clothes and the kinds of bathing suits I wish people still wore . . .
