Risto Bimbiloski has done it again. Gorgeous textiles and fluid graphic knitwear of the most feminine variety. I first wrote about Risto’s ethical fashion knits from Macedonia in 2008, and I just cannot say enough about this stellar fashion designer who also knows how to make galaxies, volcanic activity, sunsets, and, oh yes, the girls look so pretty and out-of-this-world gorgeous.

You can see the entire Risto Bimbiloski precollection for Spring/Summer 2011 in the following video from Berlin Fashion Week.

Creating New ‘Dialogs’ with Ethical Textile Accessories

Summer accents with the potential to work their magic all year long are a welcome option when it comes to sustainably savvy style. I recently came across Dialog clutches and bags at the EcoSalon Shops! event at Green Spaces NY in early June and really was impressed with their design simplicity and textile chic. Now KAIGHT shop is offering these gorgeous clutches by Dialog’s sister company, World Butik.

“World Butik bags incorporate hand weaving from the Saori WEaving Co-operative in Thailand. Saori weaving is a source of income as well as therapy for those who lost jobs and family members in the tsunami disaster of 2004.”

Locally-crafted, traditional textiles are really the most fashionable luxury statement you can make these days. I love that a clutch like this is truly global in outlook and most importantly, connects us to what matters most – working together to solve environmental challenges while also looking our best.

*Dialog/World Butik’s ‘Blue clutch’ retails for $98 at KAIGHT

Sienna Miller Shorter Sassy Hairstyle

Sienna Miller, a Brit actress who has been grazing tabloid magazines lately because of her stylish fashion trends and stylish hair do. Recently, Sienna Miller landed a role in the blockbuster film G.I. Joe as the Baroness.
When it comes to her hair style, she has worn her hair in a lot of different ways. She has worn it long, sleek straight, or wearing her hair in sophisticated up do. As of these days, Sienna’s wearing a short hair style, short and sassy.
Stealing Sienna’s short and sassy hair style is easy. All that you need to do are:
- Shampoo and then condition your hair with the usual products you use that was made especially for your hair type, condition and texture.
- Towel blot your hair gently and as much as possible do not rub your hair vigorously so that you will be able to avoid hair frizz afterwards.
- Apply some leave in conditioner or some frizz buster.
- To help you detangle those hair strands, use a wide toothed comb.
- With a paddle or flat brush, lift and then anchor 2 inch partitions of hair directly to the blow dryer.
- Work within those 2 inch partitions all round the whole perimeter till all of your hair strands are 100 percent dry.
- To add more definitions, apply a bit of hair wax, or if you want a softer look use a paste instead.
- Apply a drop or two of shine serum.
- Add a chic accessory to complete your look.

Faux That Hawk!

Faux That Hawk!

Are you interested in trying out a new edgy hairstyle? Do you want to mix in a little punk with your look? There is an easy way to accomplish this look without making drastic changes to your hair style or color. If you want to edge it up for the season –or just for a day- the faux hawk is the perfect hairstyle for you.

Not only are faux hawks cute and punky, but they have also been known to be relatively high fashion. Today, we often see them on runways and in the top fashion magazines and editorials. Faux hawks are in, and they are absolutely awesome.

To create a faux hawk, simply apply some thick pomade-like styling product to the sides of your hair. This product should have a very strong hold because it will keep your faux hawk in place. Then create 2-3 pony tails along the top of your head. You can then tease, straighten, and apply product to each of these sections in order to create a hawk with lots of length. After you have finished styling each section of your hair, you can gradually add an increasing amount of hairspray. This will help keep your hawk in place.

The best part about a faux hawk is that when you’re ready to take it down, all you have to do is jump in the shower! Who needs a true Mohawk when you can create a faux hawk that is versatile and looks just as radical!

Just after cutting out Julia’s Darcy skirt I realized there was just enough fabric for 1 more in either small or medium. That’ll be the last of this skirt in the Ikat chambray. It’s available right now in the shop.
